Forum Associazione Mitteleuropa
Friuli Venezia Giulia and Czech Republic. A future to share in the heart of Europe
Since 2021, Associazione Mitteleuropa has been enhancing the rich programme of theatre, music, dance and circus performances staged by Mittelfest by organising an important event of institutional friendship, a forum for dialogue and meetings between Friuli Venezia Giulia and foreign countries, thus confirming the special relations of this region with countries that are close to it in terms of geography, history and culture.
In 2021, special guest was Slovenia, with the honour of the presence of the President of the Republic Borut Pahor. In 2022 it was the turn of Austria and in 2023 of Hungary on the occasion of Veszprém, European Capital of Culture 2023. In 2024, the guest country of the forum is the Czech Republic, whose connection with the Italian area of Mitteleuropa dates back centuries.

L’Associazione Mitteleuropa nasce nel 1974 con la volontà di promuovere il dialogo culturale, economico e sociale tra i paesi centro-europei: una sfida, in un momento storico in cui la spaccatura della cortina di ferro rendeva rapporti e progetti molto difficili, se non impossibili. Negli anni Mitteleuropa ha associato, all’originaria mission, quella di una vera e propria attività di Cultural Diplomacy. Oggi l’associazione è accreditata presso la Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia fra gli organismi culturali di rilevanza regionale ed è iscritta nel registro della trasparenza della Commissione Europea.
